LG Apex T-Mobile may have gone back on its plans to offer a new prepaid unlimited service, but U.S. Cellular is going to make up for it in its own way. Today the carrier announced that starting on April 15, the LG Optimus U and LG Apex will be offered with a couple prepaid options. The phones themselves will cost $199 (Optimus U) and $249.99 (Apex) and are powered by Android. Let’s take a look at the plans and the phones separately.

The first prepaid plan is $60 and includes unlimited messaging, 450 voice minutes and 2GB of data. The second plan is $70 and includes 2GB of data with unlimited messaging and voice minutes. These offers are priced nicely, but there’s always something you should be aware of when good deals come around. We will now turn your attention to the U.S. Cellular prepaid voice coverage map.

prepaid voice coverage map The areas shaded in blue indicate the prepaid voice coverage area. The tan areas indicate nationwide roaming and the white indicates no coverage at all. As you can see, most of the country is not covered. The Midwest has the most to gain.
